Richard James Biography

Richard first started magic at the age of five when his Grandma bought him a magic set for Christmas.

Richard also plays keyboards and toyed between magic and music until the age of twelve. Richard often spent four to five hours in magic stores learning various magic effects and was so fascinated with the art, he decided this was his dream.

At the age of seventeen he visited nursing homes and various hotels playing keyboards at night and worked in a superstore taking the warehouse deliveries from 5.00am to 7.30am before getting ready to go to college where he studied performing arts.

Whist at college he took a great interest in set design and lighting which aided him later when he was to perform large scale magical illusions.   When Richard left his course he became a Butlins Redcoat to put what he had learned into practice.

After his time as a Redcoat, Richard moved straight into Theatre and Television. Richard is unique among young illusionists, in not only does he amaze and delight as a performer he is also a gifted designer, creator and manufacturer of new illusions and magic tricks for a world-wide market.
